“Sustainability means that a society meets the needs of present generations without jeopardizing the needs of future generations.”

This might sound philosophical at first, but if we look closer we can see that it has a lot to do with tinplate packaging: hardly any other concept fulfils the demand for sustainable actions as well as recycling and no other packaging
material has the same high recycling rates as tinplate packaging.
A recycling rate of 90.9% was achieved in Germany in 2008 and a total of more than 67 % (2007) was achieved within Europe.
Even more advantageous: steel products are 100 % recyclable which means that they can be recycled again and again without any loss of quality: new steel products can always be made from used steel. This saves natural resources, allows significant energy savings and therefore contributes to the reduction of
greenhouse gas emissions.
